WORLD KONKANI CENTRE INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR 2024 ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS

World Konkani Centre, Mangaluru, Invites applications for Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships for the academic year 2024-2025 from Konkani speaking students belonging to any caste and religion, seeking professional education in the stream of Engineering. The eligibility criteria for the Engineering Scholarships are as follows.

  1. Only candidates with Konkani as their mother tongue can apply for this scholarship regardless of their caste and religion. A mother tongue certificate needs to be provided while applying.
  2. Only candidates seeking admission to the First Year of the Engineering course in 2024 can apply.
  3. Only candidates who have scored above 80% in the core subjects (PCM/PCB) in II PUC, also secured a ranking of 30,000 or below in the Common Entrance Test (CET). OR Candidates who have secured a meritorious rank in any other entrance exam. Proof of marks and rank obtained shall be submitted.
  4. Only candidates whose total family income is less than Rs. 5.00 Lakhs per annum can apply. The candidates must provide references/recommendation letters from a family doctor and a Chartered Accountant.   5. The Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Programme is a handholding program; In addition to the monetary scholarships awarded, a skill development and mentoring programme is offered (split throughout the duration of the engineering course). By applying, the candidates accept to take part in this highly beneficial development programme.
  6. The candidate should be willing to sponsor 2 students after completion of studies and after securing employment.
  7. Applications will be shortlisted at the discretion of the scholarship committee following verifications by independent panelists. Each selected candidate will be awarded scholarships amounting to Rs. 50,000.

'Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Fund' envisages granting Merit-cum-Means Scholarships to students with Konkani language as their mother tongue. Instituted in 2010, under the vision TVM 2030, envisioned by the eminent corporate leader and startup evangelist Shri T. V. Mohandas Pai, the Scholarship Programme has successfully raised and awarded scholarships of over Rs. 30.00 crores since its inception.

As the fund functions on the 'Stream' concept, the entire amount generated each year will be distributed to the beneficiaries and no separate corpus will be maintained. Contributions to the fund will be eligible for Tax Exemption under section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act. The Governing Council of the 'Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Program (VKSSP)' is headed by Shri Pradeep G. Pai. Eminent Konkani Philanthropists like Shri T. V. Mohandas Pai, Dr. Ranjan Pai, Dr. P. Dayanand Pai, Ramadas Kamath U., K. V. Kamath, Nandagopal Shenoy, M. Jagannath Shenoi, Madam Grace Pinto, Ullas Kamath, Gokulnath Prabhu, Sandeep Shenoy, B. R. Bhat, Jagadish Kini, and many more have been supporting this fund every year.
